Visit the Burial Grounds

Fairview & New Hope Cemetery
Liberty, MO 64068

The memorial rests in what was the segregated section of Fairview Cemetery. What looks like an empty field is the final resting place for hundreds of African Americans. Most are buried in unmarked graves, but a few headstones are interspersed across the 6-acre field. More headstones are throughout the connecting New Hope Cemetery, as it is the newer of the two cemeteries. Visit the grounds and see the Liberty African American Legacy Memorial honor those buried there.
